Tarandeep Singh Sangra
Taran is a fully qualified Direct Tax Specialist with over a decade of experience spanning across HMRC and the private sector. Beginning his career through HMRC’s prestigious Tax Specialist Programme, Taran was one of the few inspectors to bring an accountancy background into the role.
He remains the only Tax Disputes Specialist operating in the private sector to have recent experience of the inner workings of HMRC’s Agent Compliance Team (ACT).
His expertise includes:
Leading cross-tax enquiries into Owner-Managed Businesses and their Directors.
Handling high-stakes cases involving multiple tax heads, with a primary focus on direct taxes.
Acting as a Technical Consultant for Public Interest Disclosures and Conduct Notices within HMRC’s ACT.
Developing strategies to tackle rogue tax agents and advising on HMRC powers and processes.
In the private sector, Taran applied this unique insight to deliver pragmatic, client-focused outcomes at a leading tax disputes boutique, heading COP9 investigations and representing high-profile clients in disputes with HMRC.
Today, as Founder of Fortis Tax, Taran combines deep technical knowledge with strategic foresight to help clients resolve complex HMRC disputes efficiently and confidently.
